I went the long route.

In 1999 I started a period of work experience with Absolutely Productions which eventually led to a junior role on a couple of series of Trigger Happy TV for Channel4. In 2002 I headed to the BBC where, for a number of years, I worked on various comedy shows for Dom Joly, Mark Steel and Armando Iannucci among others, before landing my first Directing role on the pilots for Charlie Brooker's RTS-winning Screenwipe.

Screenwipe led to the BAFTA-nominated Newswipe, Gameswipe and a number of Xmas specials and end of year shows, whilst I also moved more into sketch comedy helping to set up FunnyOrDie Uk with James Serafinowicz and The Dawson Bros, and eventually creating our comedy lab Happy Finish for Channel4, Dawson Bros Funtime and the BAFTA-nominated It's Kevin for the BBC.

In 2013 I moved into narrative comedy with The Midnight Beast S2 for Warp, which led to Bad Education for the BBC and a run on both Man Down and Drifters for Channel4. In 2017 I directed the first series of Jon Brown's Dead Pixels for E4, before working at Kudos for a number of years on Code404 and Two Weeks To Live for Sky One, both of which broke records for Sky, with Code404 becoming the most successful comedy drama to air on Sky One for 10 years and the most quickly binged show they have ever aired #humblebrag

Two more series of Code404, several episodes of Inside No9, Netflix special Death To 2020 in collaboration with Charlie Brooker and The Change for Channel4 followed, and I'm currently developing several films and series of my own.

I never had proper training, but I have picked up a wealth of experience working my way up through the industry and I firmly believe people give you their best when they enjoy coming to work, it's very important to me that my cast and crew work in a happy and relaxed atmosphere.

I really like Finn Crips with hummus.
